In March of 1997, I participated in a few lengthy discussions regarding the lack of quality builders. Erika Stokes, creator of the Mud Staff Resource Page and Inetsolve, asked to publish one of posts that I had written in a thread. Her request to publish "Some things that Help" on MSRP made me think that I have something to offer to the building community. At the time I was teaching others how to build. I used the article that Erika had posted and all of the emails that I had sent to new builders and as the basis for the The Art of Building. The initial site was published in September of 1997. I received my first external tips used on the site from Arawn of Lensmoor, Molly O'Hara of 4 Dimensions, and Absalom, formerly of Yrth and ROMLama. I still appreciate their early help on the fledgling site.

I was in the midst of changing service providers so I put the site up on a Xoom account. Erika Stokes offered to host the site on Inetsolve. It has been there ever since.

Since its conception, the site has grown immensely. It is now much more than a building guide. It is a full-fledged building resource. Thank you to those who provided input and articles.
